BYOD Program
It has been said that the top ten in-demand jobs in 2010 did not exist in 2004. At Mansfield High School, we are committed to providing our students with a quality, relevant education that will equip our students with the tools they will need to be productive, successful members of society.
In an effort to better-prepare our students for the future, we are implementing a "BYOD" program. BYOD is an acronym for Bring your Own Device. For BYOD, a "device" is a privately owned laptop, tablet computing device, netbook, notebook, or e-Reader that students being to school to use for educational purposes.
This project is a cooperative effort among the administration, technology department, library media staff, and the faculty. Currently, three additional high school teachers are in training to implement similar eMINTS strategies in their respective classrooms.
It is important to note that while we are in the beginning stages of the implementation, students are restricted to using their devices only during specified classes and at specified times. Mansfield High School is excited to offer this opportunity to our students, and we look forward to implementing this program further in the future.

BYOD Device Specifications
For the 2014-2015 school year, Mansfield High School will be participating in a Bring Your Own Device program. This program allows students to bring a personally-owned electronic device to school to use for academic tasks. This program is optional, and devices will be made available for students that do not choose to bring a device.
For students that choose to participate, it is crucial that the devices meet the educational needs of the BYOD program. Therefore, if families choose to supply a device for their student to use at school, it must meet the following requirements:
o Device must be capable of connecting to WiFi
o Device must be capable of accessing Google products (Google Drive, Gmail, etc.)
o Device must not use cellular data (all devices will need to access the school’s WiFi network)
o Device must be large enough so students can perform word processing tasks (for example, to create a presentation or to type a paper)
While no particular type of device is required, the following devices are examples of approved devices:
o iPad/iPad mini
o Kindle Fire or Nook HD
o Android tablets (such as Asus, Nexus, or Galaxy Note)
o Laptop computer (PC or Mac)
o Ultrabooks
o Netbooks and Chromebooks
o No iPods, cell phones or smartphones are allowed
Students will be in charge of the security of their device. It is strongly advised that students utilize a lock on their locker to prevent theft or damage to their device.
If you have any questions, please contact the high school office at 924-3236. Thank you.
